That’s why we’re excited to announce the release of Blackout – an assisted redaction tool for Relativity and the newest addition to our Relativity application suite.
Over the years, we’ve talked to law firms and service providers with a very particular painpoint: redacting documents in Relativity is time-consuming and tedious. That time can make the difference between hitting a review deadline or not. Without a widely available tool to solve this problem, we decided we would solve it ourselves. And after months of research, development, and testing, we’re proud to say we’ve built a powerful tool that integrates seamlessly with Relativity to make the redaction process faster and smarter.
Blackout eliminates the lengthy process of manually applying redactions one at a time by automatically generating redactions across an entire set of documents at once. Case Managers can specify the set of documents to review, set the criteria for the redaction, and choose which kind of redaction to be applied, then Blackout will do the rest. Blackout can redact words, phrases, or regular expressions, and supports all Relativity redaction types – black, cross, text, white, inverse, or full-page. Once Blackout has reviewed all documents in the set and applied the appropriate redactions, Review Attorneys can then easily see a list of documents where redactions were applied. They can review each redaction to approve, reject, or manually override each one (or all at once) from right within the Relativity document viewer, without interrupting their review workflow.
