When software updates change features people are used to or rely on, there can be hesitation to adopt their use. Forcing change on users can upend tried-and-true processes if they eliminate trusted functionality or automate away important human decisions.
Milyli believes eDiscovery professionals should be able to trust that software updates will not compromise their very important custom workflows. We ensure this by offering "Reviewer-First" eDiscovery features and design throughout our software.
Reviewer-First eDiscovery features provide the necessary functionality for specific tasks but are designed smartly enough to be applied versatilely. A fast tool you must rerun a dozen times for an accurate output is a costly waste of time. A Reviewer-First tool speeds up tasks, but not at the cost of reliability and power.
We recently hosted our first live webinar to illustrate how Blackout puts Reviewer-First eDiscovery principles into practice for immediate benefits.
Our Customer Advocacy team demonstrated how continuous innovation, and the practical needs of Blackout users have informed the powerful Find & Redact and award-winning Suggested Redactions. These features are improving reviews for the world's top firms, providers, and government agencies.

Real Innovation Comes From Ongoing Conversation
Blackout has made life easier for document reviewers by balancing the release of advanced automations and time-saving features with powerful, manual functionality that remain necessary for quality, accurate reviews.
Speed and efficiency emerge two-fold from this approach. However, it's not always a simple equation. This innovation path requires monitoring industry trends and remaining in constant, close dialog with your customers. For example, simplifying an option set might seem like a great idea, but limiting variety could make a users life a nightmare.
A one-task kitchen tool sits in the back of the drawer, wasting space. The software equivalent is the app that is installed but never opened because it's only good for that one thing you don't do that often and can't trust for any other tasks.
Real customer success emerges from customers defining what is complex and what is necessary. Within that discourse, we are able to identify and focus on augmenting the existing workflows rather than introduce costly trial-and-error processes.
With Find & Redact and Suggested Redactions, we continue that tradition.
Find & Redact Integrates Seamlessly
Review and redaction of images has been supported by Relativity's built-in tools since the earliest days. Teams are familiar with the doc-to-doc workflow, including scanning through documents and drawing boxes. Over and over and over.
While not the fastest method, it's a process that is trusted by teams and the courts. It's this trust in people and the process that was critical to maintain with Find & Redact, and so we've built tools within that workflow that reviewers can use to elevate their work.
Reviewers can access the new Find & Redact functionality directly within the Viewer as part of their standard process. Simply searching for a term generates markups throughout the documents. Find & Redact utilizes the Relativity markup settings that reviewers already use, so they can go straight to redactions or use highlights to prep the doc for further review. Hit-by-hit QC is also available, so it's simple to accept or reject results.
Additionally, Find & Redact supports searching directly for terms as well as dtSearch syntax, so reviewers are covered whether they're looking for emails, variations on names, or want to use proximity searches.

Suggestions Significantly Simplifies Manual Markups
Building on the work that users are doing - either with Find & Redact or manually - Suggested Redactions is like having a super-smart assistant learning from the work you're doing as you markup documents. Like Find & Redact, it's available directly in the Viewer and keeps the user in their flow state.
As reviewers mark up documents, Suggested Redactions takes note of terms that come up repeatedly. When reviewers navigate to the next document, Suggested Redactions presents them with a list of terms that they've previously highlighted or redacted. It allows them to leverage that work and apply the same markups with the click of a button.
As with Find & Redact, the markups are simple to QC, helping to ensure a balance between automation and human judgment of the work's validity. This results in work that is faster, easier, and still trustworthy!
