A Milyli customer ran into a common frustration. They could not find an easy way to export Relativity metadata about their documents in an easily-consumable format for the case’s deposition team. This is because non-Relativity software and printed documents cannot display all the data associated with documents and custom Relativity Dynamic Objects (RDOs). Users have historically had to attach lengthy comments or ad hoc guides to a production. In our customer’s case, screen grabs from their Relativity workspaces were printed as cover sheets to organize materials.
However, there were numerous productions built due to the case’s nature, so keeping those documents orderly once printed was frustrating. It also felt wasteful. Despite a high level of technical acumen managing RDOs, the customer’s attempts to resolve the problem resulted in more technical issues – primarily with truncated text and misaligned fields. This was when they turned to Milyli.
Function needed to render RDO info outside of Relativity
Customer with many nuanced views and layouts
Hundreds of individual medical records with sensitive PHI
Milyli worked with the customer to conceive our Layout-to-PDF technology, which is now available to any Relativity users. This technology renders those “non-visible” fields in easy-to-read layouts and tables exportable as a standard PDF. This addresses visibility challenges that impede quick, accurate, multi-stage tasks like those the customer and many other Relativity users face. Once set up, the users can easily create new layouts for different productions and export each with the click of the seamlessly integrated “Export Layout” button.
Milyli’s in-depth knowledge of Relativity allows Layout-to-PDF to export any desired Document or RDO fields to a legible PDF. The PDF can then be emailed or printed as a cover sheet, guide, or directions for the project’s next stage. On the backend, Layout-to-PDF’s power lies in its ability to reads the many complex relationships associated between different RDOs and documents within Relativity. It can recognize items as nuances as custom filtering, sorting, and columns-used on associated views. In the case of the Milyli customer, Layout-to-PDF eliminated the customer’s cumbersome, pre-deposition process.
Milyli follows a workflow designed to address the demands of our different partners in the eDiscovery space. Some customers like to be involved every step of the way. Others don’t have the resources or bandwidth to play a part in development. Milyli can collaborate or lead in whatever capacity best suits a customer’s project.
